School is out and the Summer season begins today. So, are you ready for some ideas on things to do? Indeed, no Summer is complete without some fun activities.
Summer Season Begins Today
In the first place, today is Summer Solstice. In fact, it is one of the longest days of the year and the shortest nights of the year. Since Summer is upon us, are you ready to celebrate long days of sunshine, shorter nights and warmer weather?
Fun Things to do this Summer Season
Are you ready to head outdoors? Now that the Summer season is here, the following ideas are some safe and affordable things for you to do with your family. Be sure to visit our National Safety Month post as it is important to maintain safe and secure settings for our kids.
For any family who has a garden, plant some vegetables. At the same time, get your kids involved. Most kids love getting dirty, so have them shovel some dirt to plant some seeds. You can get creative with this and even get them their own set of gardening tools.
Because there is a lot happening in NYC, take your kids to a baseball game, the beach or a playground. If your kids don’t swim, sign them up for the Learn to Swim program. You will find swimming programs for kids ages 1 1/2 – 17 years old. Also, they offer adult lessons for those 18 years and older. The program is divided into beginner and more advanced sessions. Of course, there is a program for every level.
Another great idea for a family trip is to take your kids to the water park. You can plan a day by packing a picnic lunch and enjoy a day on the water slides and tubes.
Summer Season – Sports
As you know, We W.I.L.L. Thru Sports has their Summer basketball program beginning this month. For more on this, visit our Together As One Basketball Camp post.
In addition to our basketball program this Summer, there are other sports activities to do this season. Bicycle riding, Softball, baseball, tennis and volleyball are some other sports activities to try this Summer.
As always, I welcome your comments.
Happy Summer!
