With the MLB trade deadline right around the corner, we may see many good baseball players traded. In the first place, we have already seen a lot of trade activity.

MLB Trade Deadline

So, with one week remaining, MLB Trade rumors are heating up. Indeed, there are always rumors every year. What deals will happen? What players will remain with their current teams?

In the same way, we continue to hear about Oakland Athletics, Sonny Gray. Since many teams are looking for a  pitcher to beef up their roster, it is possible Gray is moved to a contending team. Another Oakland player’s name that has repeatedly come up is Jed Lowrie. Although his name has come up in talks with the Red Sox, I don’t think he would be a good fit. Due to Lowrie playing for the team in the past, I don’t think he is a good fit as the Sox need a power hitter and a solid third baseman.

A few other player names that have been mentioned that could be traded are:

  • Jay Bruce
  • Alex Avila
  • Avisail Garcia
  • Lorenzo Cain
  • Zack Cozart
  • Giancarlo Stanton
  • Ervin Santana
  • Jason Vargas

Because some of these players have only a year remaining, there is a good chance a deal may get done. But, in the case of Giancarlo Stanton, I think that require some creativity. Furthermore, Stanton is owed $295 millions for the next 10 seasons. Would a team take a chance as this contract would take them until Stanton was 37 years old. Although Stanton has power numbers, he has also had a history of injuries.

MLB Trade Deadline Deals

Because we have already seen a good amount of baseball transactions in the last few weeks, will there be any huge deals? While the Yankees, Cubs, Nationals, Tigers and Diamondbacks have been active, will we continue to see more deals get done by these teams?

Meanwhile, many teams are waiting to see how their games shape up over the next week. Moreover, I think a lot of activity will depend on how a team plays over the next week on whether we see any deals occur.

To sum up, many teams are keeping a close eye on some of these teams. Will the asking price be too much to make a trade? Or, will some teams be looking to unload expensive players?

As the clock ticks down to next Monday, July 31st at 4:00 p.m.,  it will be exciting to see what teams are buyers and what teams are sellers.

As always, I welcome your comments.
