Since award season has winded down, let’s take a look at the Managers and Players that have won awards.
MLB Award Season Winners – American League
For the American League, the winners were as follows:
- Since many predicted Mookie Betts as one of the contenders for the MVP, it was no surprise that he unanimously won the MVP. Not only did Mookie Betts win the MVP. But he also won the batting title, a Golden Glove and a Silver Slugger Award. And, we cannot forget that Mookie’s performance helped the Red Sox win the World Series. - Cy Young Winner was Blake Snell of the Tampa Rays
- At the same time, it was no surprise that Shoehi Ohtani won the Rookie of the Year. Not only did Ohtani have dominance on the mound with a 3.31 ERA but also had a good year at the plate.
- Manager of the Year is Bob Melvin of the Oakland Athletics
- Reliever of the Year is Edwin Diaz of the Seattle Mariners
- Platinum Glove is Matt Chapman of the Oakland Athletics
- Finally, the Hank Aaron Award Winner is J.D. Martinez
MLB Award Season – Golden Glove – American League
For the Golden Glove in the American League, the winners were:
- Pitcher – Dallas Keuchel of the Houston Astros
- Catcher – Salvador Perez of the Kansas City Royals
- First Base – Matt Olsen of the Oakland Athletics
- Second Base – Ian Kinsler of the Boston Red Sox
- Third Base – Matt Chapman of the Oakland Athletics
- Short Stop – Andrelton Simmons of the Los Angeles Angels
- Left Field – Alex Gordon of the Kansas City Royals
- Center Field – Jackie Bradley of the Boston Red Sox
- Right Field – Mookie Betts of the Boston Red Sox
MLB Award Season – Silver Sluggers
For Silver Sluggers in the American League, the winners are as follows:
- Catcher – Salavador Perez of the Kansas City Royals
- First Base – Jose Abrue of the the Chicago White Sox
- Second Base – Jose Altuve of the Houston Astros
- Third Base – Jose Ramirez of the Cleveland Indians
- Short Stop – Francisco Lindor of the Cleveland Indians
- Outfield – Mookie Betts of the Boston Red Sox, J.D. Martinez of the Boston Red Sox and Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels
- Designated Hitter – J.D. Martinez
MLB Award Season – National League
Correspondingly, in the National League the Winners are as follows:
- Of course, it was no surprise that Christian Yelich of the Milwaukee Brewers won the MVP
- In fact, it was no surprise that Cy Young Winner was Jason deGrom of the New York Mets
- Rookie of the Year – Ronald Acuna of the Atlanta Braves
- Also, Manager of the Year from the Atlanta Braves is Brian Snitker
- Reliever of the Year is Josh Hader of the Milwaukee Brewers
- Platinum Glove is Nolan Arenado of the Colorado Rockies
- Besides winning the MVP, Christian Yelich also won the Hank Aaron Award
MLB Award Season – Golden Gloves
In the National League, the Golden Glove Winners are as follows:
- Indeed, it is no surprise that Zack Greinke, Pitcher of the Arizona Diamondbacks won
- Catcher is Yadier Molina of the St Louis Cardinals
- Consequently, there were two players chosen for First Base – Freddie Freeman of the Atlanta Braves and Anthony Rizzo of the Chicago Cubs
- Second Base is D J LeMahieu of the Colorado Rockies
- Third Base is Nolan Arenado of the Colorado Rockies
- Short Stop is Nick Ahmed of the Arizona Diamondbacks
- Left Field is Corey Dickerson of the Pittsburgh Pirates
- Center Field is Ender Inciarte of the Atlanta Braves
- Right Field is Nick Markakis of the Atlanta Braves
MLB Award Season – Silver Sluggers
- Catcher is J.T. Realmuto of the Miami Marlins
- Pitcher is German Marquez of the Colorado Rockies
- First Base is Paul Goldschmidt of the Arizona Diamondbacks
- Second Base is Javier Baez of the Chicago Cubs
- Third Base is Nolan Arenado of the Colorado Rockies
- Short Stop is Trevor Story of the Colorado Rockies
- For the Outfield, the Silver Sluggers are Nick Markakis – Atlanta Braves, David Peralta – Arizona Diamondbacks and Christian Yelich of the Milwaukee Brewers
Conclusion
Finally, the award for the Roberto Clemente Award went to Yadier Molina who has set an example for the game of baseball in his community involvement, sportsmanship and contribution to his team.
