With 2022 in review, As We W.I.L.L Thru Sports looks back and acknowledges the accomplishments and hard work of our youth. We commend those who made a commitment to not only getting better in the game but also being better as a person through their experience with us.
Recap on 2022 Activities – WINTER
We opened up with an impactful after-school program that left the administration wanting more for their young scholars. Coaches engaged youth in a structured after-school basketball tournament to decrease their risk of becoming involved in negative and unsafe behaviors that surround them outside of school. It allowed opportunities for mentoring and increased the scholar’s awareness of healthy living.
In addition, We W.I.L.L. Thru Sports met its goal of scholars being educated, empowered, and prepared to make healthy decisions while having fun and staying fit. While continuing to run after-school programming, our youngsters attending weekend A.M. Workouts had an exciting eye-opener.
When guest speaker Mr. Hamilton joined the special basketball coaching clinic, the youth got to learn about what it takes to make it to the NBA. They also learned the path you need to take as a student athlete and other career opportunities they’d have access to. This was important since it’s a slim 0.03% chance of making it to the NBA. We then moved into spring where we prepared for the Jr. NBA Skills Challenge after partnering with Stop n Shop during the month of March for National Nutrition Month. Please, click here to read more on this and check out this link for details on our local competition where participants had lots of fun and healthy competition. A.M. Workouts wrapped up as the Regulators got ready to enter into the competition, competing against other teams within their division.
Recap on 2022 Activities – SUMMER
We then made our way into preparing for our annual summer programming including Together As One Camp and the community basketball tournament. We served nearly 100 young people throughout the weekends allowing them to be involved in quality structured activities at no cost.

At the conclusion of the summer, we prepared for the fall season by bringing back the successful A.M. Workouts. This program is currently running and will go into 2023 in addition to new upcoming activities.
When all is said and done, this year has been full of heartwarming experiences for everyone here at We W.I.L.L. as we watched our youth make better choices by adopting a healthy lifestyle. As we move into 2023, we hope and aspire to create even more learning opportunities for our youth that will enable them to lead happy and healthy lives.
