After the popularity of our first minicamp; we are excited about our second Driveway Minicamp scheduled for this Saturday, August 1, 2020.
Since our first camp was so popular; we will be continuing some of the same things we did in the first minicamp. To read more about this; be sure to visit our One Day Mini Basketball Camp post.
So, this will have a similar feel to our last camp; however, we will be adding a social justice component.
In this one day event, the camp will run from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the same place as before.
Similarly to before, we will be using the same protocol with a limited number of young people.
Meanwhile, we will be using no-touch to check for a temperature and we will be using social distancing as best as possible during all activities.
In addition, all Covid-19 screening sheets must be filled out before you can participate.
Social Justice Element
With all that is happening in the country with the pandemic, crime, and black lives matter; we feel it is important for young people to understand what they are reading on the internet and seeing in the news.
Because this is the first time we have added a social justice element to our program; we are working with an educator. Mary’s sister, Deborah who has assisted us in putting together a curriculum that will be beneficial to everyone.
Moreover, athletes, educators, and kids are more than players on the court or field. At the same time, it is important that we all use our voices to be heard, as our actions can help both on and off the court.
In conclusion, we are excited to see you at our Driveway Minicamp and look forward to getting everyone together to learn new basketball skills and help cope with everything going on in your neighborhood.
