Now that the season is over, let’s take a look at the 2019 New York Mets team. Before the season started, there was a lot of hope for the Mets. Be sure to check out our New York Mets Off Season 2018 post to read about their busy off season.

2019 New York Mets Report Card

Although there were high expectations for the 2019 Mets team; this year’s team finished with a record of 86 – 76. At the same time, the first half of their season was the team’s downfall. In the first half of the season, the bullpen and lineup were what kept this team from making the playoffs.

While the team finished the season on a high note; their below 500 record earlier in the season was their demise.

Although many expected the Mets team to be in contention; there were several things that went wrong this season. Due to the Mets making many moves in 2019; these moves could hinder their financial resources for 2020.

No doubt, they should have kept some of their prospects and perhaps brought in some offensive production.

New York Mets 2020

There has already been several teams that have parted ways with their Managers. Both the Chicago Cubs and the Pittsburgh Pirates dismissed their managers.

Now that the regular season is over, will the New York Mets bring back Mitch Callaway? Due to many questionable decisions in the regular season; will the team go in a different direction?

When the Mets hired new General Manager, Brodie Van Wagenen; he decided to stay with Callaway at the time. With many managers already available; will Van Wagenen make a change?

Because their offense was spotty in 2019; they need to find a way to make some moves that will overall improve their chances for the post season.

As always, I welcome your comments on the 2019 New York Mets.
